Home Timeline Application Information Pre-Residency Program FAQ

In 2006, the 6 Ontario Family Medicine programs – University of Western Ontario, McMaster University, University of Toronto, Queens University, University of Ottawa and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) joined together to form a coordinated approach to interviewing and selecting International Medical Graduates for Ontario family medicine PGY1 positions offered through CaRMS.  It is supported by the Ontario Postgraduate Deans.

A provincial steering committee with representatives from all six family medicine programs will once again guide and oversee the application and selection process for the 2012 admission to a Family Medicine residency position in Ontario.

If you are a health care professional currently practicing outside of Ontario, or if you are a health care professional certified to practice in another country but currently living in Ontario, please visit Health Force Ontario to find out how to become an Ontario physician.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario publishes the various entry routes for International Medical Graduates to practice in Ontario.
